March 2010 - Ramping It Up!

The momentum is building at Red Road Telecom! I'm reminded of the second year of business at interLink Hawaii. We're getting great word-of-mouth advertising, the economy is brightening up a little bit, and more and more Big Island businesses are finding out how easy it is to cut your phone bill and improve your service at the same time.

Which means, we need help! So - if you or someone you know is interested in joining the Red Road Telecom family, please contact me right away. We need sales, service, and installation professionals.

February 27, 2010 6:00 AM Tsunami Warning

Aloha.

This morning as our o'hana is taking boats out to sea and helping each other be ready, we are praying for the best while also preparing for the worst. I will be at our Hilo Network Operations Center this morning for a while, doing what I can to reduce the danger of water contacting our equipment. No service outage is expected.

Please call or email if there is anything you'd like done differently with your incoming calls today.

Stay calm, relax, and know that whatever happens we will all deal with it together.

November 2009 - Still Crazy After All These Years

Fifteen years ago, interLink Hawaii (the first Internet Service Provider on the Big Island) signed up its first customer. I had just finished putting together the network and server cluster and it was quite an exciting experience - the hard drive on my main server started accessing like mad the moment I connected the main Internet backbone to our network, and it never stopped. Connecting people to that hurricane of information, data, and noise -- what a business to be in!

August 2009 - It Pays To Be Optimistic

As we are helping our customers improve their communications with less money, we're also seeing signs of an upturn in our island economy. The ingenuity with which businesses are shifting to meet financial challenges is giving rise to more cooperation, a stronger "Buy Local" inclination, and a growing spirit of community.

June 2009 - Happy New Year!

The Sun Dance (the spiritual ceremony, not the movie festival) is really how I count my years - and as I'm preparing to leave for this year's dance I'm so pleased to be able to go, knowing that our systems are stable and that our tech support is being handled by two really outstanding technicians, Ron Borden and Bob Holmes. Red Road Telecom is truly blessed to have these two guys available.

April 2009 - Baby Luau

Aloha, Red Road Ohana!

April 7, 2008 was the date of our first customer turn-up, so we're celebrating our first year on the planet with much gratitude. I just completed our first quarterly investor report, which required that I actually take a look at how we're doing, and I was delighted to discover that we have surpassed our projections for both new customer sign-ups and operating profit.
